What I Do When I am Not an Illustrator
I am not fortunate enough, yet, that I can do my illustrating full-time. So when I am not creating art, I am at school, spending time with my boyfriend or working at an Assisted Living/Memory Care facility.
My specific job title is an Activity Assistant. My. Job. Is. So. Great! I get paid to literally hang out with and enrich my resident's lives. Along with running groups/classes and doing one-on-one activities with the residents, I get to help decorating and planning for events. I have been working as an activity assistant for just over two years now and plan on at least two more. This is the best job I have ever had (other than a commissioned illustrator)!
I love my job because of the relationships I get to form with the residents. My residents become my friends and family, people that I care about and will go out of my way to help them. I also love it because it has helped with my anxiety and my patience. Suffering from anxiety attacks, it is important to keep calm and keep looking at the broad picture. Getting the job is one of the best things to have happened to help me cope with my anxiety.
Another short one today. Been at work all week and don't have too much extra time currently. Thank you for keeping up with the blogs! Post FIVE of SEVEN is done, I am almost there!!! Again, I encourage everyone to join me in the challenge and send me your blog posts, I would love to read them!
See you tomorrow!
